use these three minutes for an oral quiz..do closure by reviewing
verbally what the students accomplished that day..ask opinions of your
students about art in general...see how they feel.
I give a 5 minute cleanup for a 50 minute class. With clay or
printmaking..sometimes I give 10 minute cleanup. They put away supplies,
clean tables ..I do the sink ..no big deal. I strive to keep a clean
room... I clean tables when they look grubby and they catch on...much nicer
to work in a clean space. If a student leaves a mess..I track them down in
their next class and they come back to clean up. It rarely happens twice.
On the other hand ..you could leave the mess..but just look at
teen's rooms....they might never notice the messy art room. Heidi in VA
