low self-esteem

One thing that I have been trying to do is to make a conscious effort to
point out when a student does something right. I will pull the student aside
in private, generally as the student is walking out the door and say, "Hey,
you did really well today. I am proud of you." I know as teachers we are
supposed to acknowledge the good, ignore the bad, but sometimes I get so
caught up in the moment that I forget. I am not sure it is making a
difference. I would like to hope so.
