I'm not the best organizer (of anything) but I had to learn how to sort
through these messages without spending hours each night. I have one e-mail
address just for the listserv. I made one folder called "unread listserv
messages" and several others for my saved messages. When I check my mail, I
go through all of it looking for ones that might be personally addressed to
me and send most of the others to the "undread listserv messages" folder.
Sometimes, we get on a thread that I just delete all the messages with that
subject. This way, I can go and check my messages when I have time instead
of them piling up hundreds at a time in my in-box.

Sometimes, though, I delete a message, and later read a message that reponds
to it and I don't know what they're talking about. Still, this is the best
method for organizing messages I've found yet. You can always subscribe to
the digest version- which I've tried and I didn't like. Not as personal.
