Lynnzi:
How about trying spooky pictures in watercolors similiar to
Expressionism: Edvard Munch.
Also distortion line self portraits similiar to the distortion in
Expressionism.
Try having the older ones paint Fields of Pumpkins learning about
complimentary orange pumpkins and blue skies. Shades and tints: shades on the
earth and tints of highlights on the pumpkins in tempera paint.
For the younger ones, watercolor scarecrows with pumpkins at the bottom.
Also Starry Starry Nights a la Vincent Van Gogh with crayon resist.
Also water color backgrounds with all different colors and have them cut
out black silhouettes of witches, moons, bare trees, monsters and have them
paste their silhouettes on to stained watercolors 60 lb. white drawing paper.
One last thing: to have 2 and 3rd graders make jackolanterns out of
orange construction paper and glue different colored tissue paper to the
openings and sticky tack the projects to the windows.
