Indispensible in my room is one of the citrus-based cleaners like
Citra-Solv or Citrus DeSolvit (available at the grocery store).
It gets out all kinds of dirt, esp. wax, adhesive, and grease,
from all kinds of surfaces. Send those needles my way if you
don't want to bother!
