I did a project where I traced all the students silhouettes on large
white paper and they chose a "theme" that was somehow important to them
and had to represent it differently on the inside of the silhouette than
the outside. The students generally loved it. I emphasized...It is
your silhouette, make the artwork about you! Either something they
liked to do, a place they vacationed, a dream for the future, their
nationalities...etc...

Then we talked about movement, unity and contrast and how to combine
each of these. It was their "MAJOR" project after intense color
studies. They contrasted the inside and outside many ways. Example: a
beach scene where they vacationed could be done near/far, warm colors
vs cool, calm and inviting vs. stormy and angry, day vs.
night...etc.....

Good luck!
