Actually- you will probably enjoy "teaching" parents more than talking. What
about leaf printing? I have done it with adults as well as small children.
Have them paint with tempera on the back of a leaf- turn over, cover w/paper
towel and print onto a piece of brown paper.Repeat. Simple, beautiful and
impressive. I have also used this verse "We are like trees-we must create new
leaves in order to grow" (unknown author) to letter onto the prints (before
or after prinitng) so that they have a poster to take home. You could even go
so far as to create blank oriental-like wall hangings with dowel rods and
strings glued to the papers before they start. You can talk to them while
they work about Elements of Art, self-expression, creativity, etc. They'll
have a lot more fun in your classroom than any of the other subjects!
Have fun,
