There's a time to stand up and assert yourself and then there's a time when
it is judicious to keep quiet when you know the deck is stacked...especially
if you have a weak union and a bunch of misogynists in power. I have never
been known as a shrinking violet. Quiet is not my middle name. However, when
there is nothing you can do, and the entire staff has been "witch-hunted",
then in order to keep a job, you lay low.
If you are a single parent and the sole support of two kids, you speak softly
when necessay, and then, with people more amenable to the situation, you can
press for your ideas and your agenda. Don't be a martyr for a cause unless
you can take the economic consequences. If you are absolutely fed up and can
get out, then speak out.
