Response to the kiln wash question. The thickness of the kiln wash may be a
factor. If my kiln wash is thinner, it doesn't chip. But I must admit,
when it is thicker, even a big blob of glaze can be easily "poped" off of
the shelf.
Response to the person who wants to clean kiln shelves. If you wear goggles
and use a metal scraper, that will get off the big chips. For the small
grinding of the surface, I use a piece of carborendem shelf, or order a
carborendem block with a handle, design for this very purpose. No matter
which way you go, it is a good amount of work. Take your time. Carole
