Today I overheard three teachers talking about an art project that I did
with the 1st graders with a Mondrian look alike. We use black yarn
threaded on cardboard which was white and the three primary colors glued
inside the rectangles and squares. All the teachers could say is "thats
CUTE!!!" Don't these teachers have other descriptive words to use to
describe a work of art. It just drives me crazy this "CUTE" word. The
kids sometimes use this word also to describe a work of art. I try to
encourage them to use other descriptive words when we look at a work of
art. How can we educated teachers along with the kids??? I put out
posters describing what the kids have been studying but to no avail.
They are still igornant. Help with the word CUTE!!!!
