1.We talked about values and ethics in general. Then I made two large
gingerbread figures on the board. We filled one with qualities that we would
like in a friend, (ie. friendly, caring, loyal, etc.) Then the other man was
filled with bad qualities we would not want in a friend. Closure on this would
come when we talked about making our campus aware of the good stuff.
2. From those qualities we created a list of words that students then
illustrated on posters.
3. The students then painted murals of the terms all the way down a hallway
with the words above them. Across the very top "P.H.S Students' Values and Ethics"
4. The posters were used to promote the murals on campus around the community.
It has been a great experience walking down the hall and hearing students
comment about the murals and the values and ethics they depict. I feel so
proud of the kids that created them and the message they have shared with 2200
I have done many mural projects but this one is my favorite.
