Teri,
A good one for 2nd. graders; Get the June/Summer 1999 issue of Arts &
Activites magazine. Its called, From the Inside Out: Kids Create See Through
Self Portraits.
Another words, X-Ray Vision. This is an objective on contours and gets them
thinking about their anatomy. Think of a medical chart showing the Skeletal
system or the muscular system. Some will use realism for their eye color and
hair color, but will go with bright contrasting colors for the bones, organs,
muscles etc.
next for 4th. & 5th. grades;
Get the April 1999 issue of Arts & Activities Magazine. This is on Collossal
Careers.
Students will decide on a career choice or you could go with a "fantasy"
theme. They will draw themselves in a scene to show foreground, middleground,
and background. They will learn color mixing and work on painting skills.
They need the paper to be 12" x !8". The whole thing can be done on this
sheet or they can do theirself paperdoll like and place it ontop of the big
background. This way it will be fun to switch with their neighbor to get
silly combinations.
hope this helps.
