I would like to include more computer design and graphics as part of the
visual arts courses or at least compliment the computer technology
program within the school. I have two computers in my art room but they
are very limited in graphic capabilities (386's with Corel Draw 3) and
an on again off again dot matrix printer. This set up in my classroom
does not hold the attention or interest for students in my classes. I
have arranged to take some of my classes to the computer labs when they
are open so that they can experience and work on the more advanced
programs and systems.
After an initial discussion with the technology instructor we would like
to start a program that would involve team teaching from the visual arts
and technolgy departments. The technology instructor also feels that
many of his students are lacking in the knowledge of basic art design
principles that would enhance their work. I would like to develop a
course that would involve both visual arts and computer technology and
would appreciate any suggestions or starting points in such a venture.
Are there any highschools out there that are conducting such a course
and would be willing to share some of the course outline, assignments
and program? Can someone direct me to websites involving both the
visual arts and computer technology?
