Answered you privately, but then I decided that a public statement should be made.
I agree that teaching in 1/2 blocks is very hard. One hour is sometimes not enough.
It used to be when I was younger-guess I did not have so much to share. It is especially
hard being on a cart if 5-10 minutes are not built in as travel time. Classroom teachers
can (some) tend to forget to come back. Throws everything off. It is a hard and rewarding
job-no one else in the school can quite understand the nature of art on a cart-and such
intense and non stop teaching. It is exhausting. But it is so sweet to see understanding
and excitement on an 8 year olds' face. It is also rewarding to see those kids who will
give up recess to finish their art because they care a lot about it.
The grading is also enormously time comsuming.
That is another reason that I find this list serve valuable. The foot pain topic touched me.
We need to be a support system for each other. Sounding board and people who understand
the complications of the job. Good luck to you. And all of us.
