I have an agent who finds work for me and I pay her handsomely for that
service. I also advertise in source books, clients see the work and then
come to me with commissions.
Writing just one grant proposal would take more time than "sniffing around"
as you call it.
Besides, why shouldn't an artist sniff around for clients? - everyone else
does. Is an artist above all that? Is he owed a living? I think not.
