When we bought our home, the sidewalk that went around the house had a square
section missing...a total danger for walking, bigwheeling, etc. I believe it
occurred because of some lack of forethought and planning. The walk went over
the sewer clean-out pipe opening. We have a cement mixer, and simply used a
strong piece of plastic shaped to the block to be filled (instead of the motor
oil theory) and filled it in. The plastic allows us to "lift" the block out
to access the pipe. (luckily we haven't had to, yet! peeyew) But all these
cement project ideas have inspired me to have my husband load that monstrous
cement mixer (electric! came with the house & barn) into the truck in Spring
(definitely an outdoor process) and have some fun with these tiles, sidewalk
paths, or whatever. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope the plastic is a better
alternative to the motor oil.
