I teach 1st through 6th grade, at three schools. This is Art on a Cart.
Last year I was given 40 minutes with 1st and 2nd grades. This year they
gave me 30 minutes with 1st and 2nd grades. This is impossible. The kids
are rushed and I am too. It takes about 10 minutes to introduce a new
project, with slides, posters, etc. I then domonstrate and then pass out
supplies, 10 minutes. The kids work for 10 minutes and then clean-up, I
am always late for the next class. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH TIME!!!!!
What can I do????? I was thinking of approaching the principal and
telling her that I feel rushed and I know the kids feel rushed with 30
minutes. How can I get this time changed???? There is one art teacher
who has senority over me and just has the kids color in coloring pages
and he THINKS that 30 minutes is enough. I can't agree.
This week I am doing tissue collage with warm and cool colors with the
1st grades and so far it has taken two classes and they still are NOT
finished. Please help!!!!!!
