Dear Ellen and All, I have been really interested in doing some work with
cement--I have a large paper mache project which is too soft and I want to
cover it with chicken wire and cement it over. Do you have any advice on
working vertically etc.??I saw a video about a man who made 3/d sculptures
with quick set cement and he mentioned that you don't want to work it too
much because the liquid separate out and it starts to run. Do you mix
according to directions or add more sand?? Can you use a plaster mold??
How about clay, how about latex??
Do you know anything about getting hydra-stone or whatever they are using
now to create all these castings that are for sale?? How much danger is
using cememt--I know people who work in it for a while develop all kinds
of skin problems--does it take a time factor?? Does this sound like a
good thing to have students involved with??
I'm really excited about doing something--any advice will be appreciated!
Sid
