Thank you for your kind words. I was really ready to walk away from this
listserve. I got really depressed because I felt no one understood what I was
saying. After all, I was speaking English. People thought I was a bitter
teacher because I work with minority children and it looks like a large
percentage of this list does not work in a big city or with minority kids.
I despise self-promotion and snobishness, and because I work in a rough
area--- I have a big mouth; it does get me in trouble sometimes. That is how
I learned to survive in a rough situation. People were writing to me about how
I must hate my job, myself, my kids, my huband, my dog, my cat, etc. etc.
Nothing could be further from the truth! I love my job (Honest I do!), the
kids- and yes----the old, run-down school in which I teach! They were
sounding like people I know who teach in the suburbs, and say to me, often ,
"How could you teach that GARBAGE?!"
It's funny because I have been receiving a lot of e-mail about this lady who
signs her name with the lawyer thing after it. No one called her on it , but
me, and then I get the brunt of it this week. (Let's face it, lawyers are up
there with politicians and car salesmen anyway) Jeepers--did I feel
isolated!!!! O.K. gang, I promise to keep my BIG mouth shut from now and
stick to the subject we all have in common and love ----ART!
Love and Kisses, Bluestruth
