identity project sans self portraiture

You don't mention what grades ... but how about "banners" created by the
students as another representation of themselves? Hobbies, friends, family,
sports, etc., (do not limit too much here) created with "symbols" using many
templates? The younger grades (K-2) are so happy with simple circles and
squares and can go far with these. The older grades could create collages
with photos/magazine cutouts and then trace over so it blends. Hope this is
helpful, or at least a start.
