I have to agree with Carla when she feels she is being attacked
unecessarily by a member of our listserv. We ALL teach in varied
situations. We ALL have made a personal CHOICE to teach in these
situations...whether in the ghetto, urban or rural area. We ALL have
varying opinions and some of these we feel passionate about. The one truly
great thing about this listserv is the support system we have woven around
us. We have picked brains, cried on shoulders, freely shared, agreed,
disagreed...all without hurting others' feelings.

I find the high-gifted thread we have been discussing filled with offensive
"stuff" that has been verbalized and directed to others. This is way out of
line when you get personal. You might not be, but "I" am certainly
impressed that one of our members has a law degree and yet has decided to
return to the classroom to become a teacher. What a great role model. I'm
also impressed that others have made an effort to approach the problem of
those more mentally advanced in our school system. I like to think that I'm
willing to listen to a debate I have little knowledge of so I can learn a
thing or two. I'm always amazed that there are so many diversed
prospectives in our group and sometimes find I've had tunnel-vision on some
things. I'm always learning...I hope you will too...if and when you take
your foot out of your mouth. Toodles......
