Dear Ruth,

How fortunate you are to be asked for suggestions on renovations and budget.

Last time I saw any numbers, the national average budget was $3.00 a student
at the elementary level. High Schools have other options like a fee
assessment.

NAEA guidelines recommend 55 square feet per student exclusive of storage
area, teacher space, computer areas, etc. NAEA publication, "Design
Standards for School Art Facilities" would be helpful.

My wish list for additions to older room - more than one sink, more storage,
lots of electrical outlets, improved lightening especially if the use of
computers are available to students, adequate ventilation (exhast fan),
fiber covered wall for display and critiques.
