Hi Kim,
I am sure that every art teacher has dealt with the problem of other
teachers helping themselves to art supplies! When I took my job 6 years
ago I worked from a closet and on a cart. The art closet was at that
point just a free for all. I would have supplies ready the evening
before for a lesson and come in the next morning and they would be gone!
Even supplies that I had purchased myself!!! I became so furious that I
demanded the pricipal put a stop to it. After 6 years and by carefully
explaining to each of the teachers that my supplies are my life line
just like their textbooks are theirs, this has finally come to a stop!
I told the teachers that I only order enough supplies to get me through
the year and that if I give things away, I won't be able to complete my
projects with the kids. I told them that I would never go in an help
myself to their textbooks, especially without permission! I did say
though that if they were in a pinch, I would try to help them out,
especially if it they needed supplies that I had an excess of. Good
luck! I don't envy you! It brings back awful memories!
