Tracey-
I have a feeling you are going to be overwhelmed with requests for the photos
you offered. I would love to be able to show my students whatschools are like
in Africa! Where are you in Africa? Obviously, you have access to the
Internet, do your students? Is there any chance for an art exchange or a pen
pal type of situation? Could you possibly provide all of us with a description
of your school and the areas you mention that are nearby? I have a class of 32
sixth graders who will be studying Africa in terms of art and music,
especially, during the second semester. We do not attempt to replicate
traditional crafts, but rather study them and then interpret the form or
concept in terms of our own culture and experience. If you could send me some
photos, I would be thrilled, but if not, I will certainly understand. I would
be happy to reimburse you for any expense.
