response to a teacher story on "community ecological issues"
One story I read about was that a class at a school planted a
garden and used a design they found in a painting, so that when you
walked through the garden it felt as if you were walking throught the
painting. I found the concept very intrigueing. The way they brought
together art, environment, and learning seemed to be a masterpeice in its
self. Creating this outdoor masterpeice seems to transform the idea
of "a breath of fresh air" into "a breath of life." By taking plants and
creating a living breathing garden from a work of art, they litteraly
breathed life into the painting. With this type of project not only
were the students learning how to appricate art but also the importance of
their environment.
