I share with robert Nickelson the doubts about the definition of art. As
an artist i really think that art can not be describe by words , it
depends in so many factors and contexts. The only thing i am certain
about is that human beeings need art. As a teacher i must explain art to
the others and the best concept i can describe is : art is a form of
expressing feelings about things. Art is expression, is creativity, is
transforming and transubstantion : Metamorphosis. It depends on media ,
on the time, on the author.
Of course, there are other factors which are very hard to handle in
artistic expression, i mean the judgement of the value of an art work.
Criticism is a very polemic issue in the real world of art , but
criticism in art education can not be ambiguous , in order to reach
quality of appreciation and art making. Of course we only can make
criteria for judgement if you believe in art , in all the arts of every
periods, civilizations , gender and race.
