Thank you for your interest. I don't mean to offend you in any way because I
know Art Therapy is a glorious thing for a child. My classes, to be blunt
are like being in the nut house. (How's that for a professional term?!) The
kids fist fight-I am constantly breaking up fights -mostly between the black
males.....No dads, poverty, foster parenting, Hispanic--parents do not speak
English, dads in jail, moms in jail, shacking up without getting married, teen
moms, drugs, gangs, overcrowded classroom, illiteracy, no money in budget for
art, moms are hookers, well, I think you get the picture! Sometimes I can't
even let these kids in my room. I can hear them coming a mile away-they are
WILD, and I let them know they MUST enter quietly and orderly. That is an
impossibility for them-soooo I don't let them in! It happens all the
time---II'm standing in the hall, arms folded, door is closed shut, waiting
for them to shut up. At the end of the day, you wouldn't believe how many
teachers are at their door, crying. I used to, but I won't let them win.
