Subject: The definition of art

Hey, Group-
How this for a definition of art:
Art is a collection of ideas produced by human skill, imagination and
invention.

Wait a minute, if art is just ideas then where does the object itself
fit in?

I think the ideas that got from George Dickie's theory about art
sounds more complete--Art(good or bad)is an artifact or performance
deserving of or having been conferred with the status of candidate
for meaningful appreciation -- this conferring of status has been
established by a person or persons of the artworld and or the creator
of the object or performance.
