Artsednetter Friends--
Went to a teacher's seminar yeasterday that focuses on writing grants. One of
the teachers had a terrific idea and I thought I'd pass it on! Actually,
"Barney" (the dinosaur) did it too, but here's a variation on the idea. The
teacher (Kindergarten level) named this grant "Hats off to you". You simply
take three pieces of newspapers, place it on the child' s head and wrap
masking tape around the head part. The children work in cooperative groups of
four or so. One child will be sitting, the other kids will be doing the
masking tape part. They will take turns until all the kids have their own
hat. Then the group will form the newspaper UNDER the masking tape part into a
hat. You can decorate it by painting, using tissue, artificial flowers,
etc. It is simply adorable. What I'm going to do is have the kids parade
around the school in celebration of 100th day.
What do you guys do to celebrate 100th day in your school? I have a bunch of
ideas. I'll let you know in another letter.
Also--In need of a good introduction to architecture to kids who don't even
know what it means. I live in Chicago-I want to expose them to the great
buildings here. Where do I begin? Love to hear your ideas, folks.
Thanks, everyone!!!
