Andy Goldworthy is a contemporary artist who is listed on the Art
and Ecology web section. Goldworthy does temporary and permenant
enviromental sculpture installations to document, demonstrate, and teach
about seasonal change and the relationship that people have wiht the
enviroment. In his temporary installations, Goldworthy, uttilizes the
camera inorder to document the work and to manipulate light, color, and to
limit the viewing perspective of the work.
In the large scale perminate projects that Goldworthhy works on he
is trying give nature a more powerfull presence in the materials that he
selects for use. The issues that Goldworth addresses in his work are
important as a teachable theam in elementary school because it is
important that children learn about thier relationship to nature and how
they as individuals and as a part of society affect change (possitive or
negitive) on the enviroment.
If you know of any other artists that address the same type of
issues please feel free to let us know about them. What are some of the
things that teachers are doing with students in a classroom that address
these issues? If you have any comments or seggestions, please share them
with us.
