The issue that we wish to teach is going to be on recycling. We feel that
it is important because we want to educate about the limitness of our
natural resources. We are going to take "garbage" and create, and/or,
learn of new and improved uses for it.

The age group that we are going to target will be 2nd grade...6 and 7 year
olds.

Our intentions are to develop in children a new respect for natural
resources, excitment about recycling, and less wasteful behavior both
privately and publicly.

Our overall goal is to show the positive effects of recycling, that it is
not difficult and that they (the children) have the power to do something
about the environment in which they live. We want to give them the
opportunity to identify instances in which they can use their new
knowledge beyond the classroom. We want to emphasize that recycling is a
lifelong commitment. We feel that this can be accomplished through
creative means. One artistic method we thought would be successful with
this grade level is assemblages.

We are interested in artists that have dealt with issues in recycling and
especially assemblage. Any other ideas for artworks that are created
through recycled materials would be greatly appriciated. We would love to
hear from you. Thanks, Larisa, Lisa, and Lindsie.
