Project Educator, Art and History

Position Description:
Educator wanted for innovative federally-funded project to teach and
co-develop Illinois-specific Internet-based art and history resources for
K-12 and general public audiences. The project is a collaboration between
the Illinois State Museum, the Illinois State Museum Society, and the
Illinois State Board of Education. The educator will work with classroom
teachers and project staff to integrate curriculum needs with museum
resources and develop materials for grades K-12, and work with project
staff and community advisors to develop materials for the general public.
The educator will also co-develop and implement Internet training
activities for the general public at three museum venues across the state.
This position will be full-time to begin immediately and extend through
September, 1999. Salary is $28,000 per year, with a complete benefits package.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have at least three years of experience as an educator in
a formal (K-12 classroom) and/or informal setting such as a museum. Strong
knowledge of art and/or history; flexibility; imagination; strong
organizational skills; and a high comfort level with computers and the
Internet are required. This position will require occasional statewide
travel. Bachelor's degree required, however the competitive applicant will
have a Master's degree in education, art, or history.
