Dear Kristie Moore,
I know that this is a bit late, but I'm a little overwhelmed by
the listserv. Anyway, I was reviewing all the messages since the
beginning of October and I came across your issue placed in #405 on Oct.
14th. You were saying that you were curious about how some schools are
cleaning up the environment and learning about the issues of
recycling...etc. Well, I thought about it for a while and realized that
schools are actively participating in that often with out the public or
student knowledge....Those new playgrounds, the plastic ones that are all
over our country....McDonalds uses them, School grounds use them....in
fact I've seen them where ever I see play grounds here in Arizona... Those
are made from 100% recycled materials. Did you know that even the chips
they use to cover the ground with is also recycled material? In fact I
believe that McDonalds was the pioneer in this movement....Couldn't tell
you for sure but I am sure that the playground structures are all
recycled. Hasta, Larisa Velasco
