NAEA has outlined four types of art experiences that are part of a students
art education. These are EXPOSURE, ENTERTAINMENT, ENRICHMENT AND
NAEA publishes literature on the distinction of each category, but if you
are interested, I'm sure I can dig something up over the weekend.
I seems to me that the experience as described falls into the Exposure
category. The rationale for having students visit the DeGrazia Gallery was
to provide an experience that they might not otherwise have. The level of
preparation and follow up could move this into another category, but that
does not appear as if that took place this time.
Perhaps, others can see this falling into other categories and I am
confident they will share their ideas also.
