I don't know about telecommunications approaches, but watershed approaches
sound like a good deal for both BC and Arizona. I've had a little luck
connecting kids with art and ecology projects up and downstreams with
varieties of problems, sharing water quality information as an example.

In BC, it would be wonderful to hook up with kids along the Fraser River.
Here in Washington, we just did a small thing in which kids and adults
wrote and designed postcards to "The Salmon People" of legend - bringing
awareness of ocean/forest/river connections with the plight of Pacific
Salmon. Maybe Washington and BC kids could also connect in ways that avoid
the salmon wars that have been waged between our state and the province of
BC.

Likewise in Arizona, making any connection between kids and the
Green-Colorado-Sea of Cortez would be wonderful. My suggestion is for a
wakeup call to Saturn Car Company that sponsors those TV commercials which
begin in Pinedale, Wyoming. Pinedale is also very very near the headwaters
of one of Arizona's most treasured waterways. They seem socially conscious
and might kick in some $ for some of you up and down the riverways.
