we were very interested in Nicolas Hill program of having children create
neighborhood images that define the community. the children came up with
some very moving poems and complex picture compositions. Living in Tucson
we have a wealth of neighborhood murals, many done informally by unknowns
and some by well known local artists. has anybody got ideas about how we
can use them as part of a "learning about our community" experience?
something beyond the usual "field trip and then talk about it when you get
back" kind of experience. we'd like suggestions about how we might design
something for a semester long experience. grades 3 to 5. can you help us?
we're new at this sort of thing.
