Hi to all,

I recently discovered a wonderful site on the art of Haiku. This is a very
simple form of poetry that I believe even young children would be able to
work with. Also, the main focus of Haiku is expressing emotions with
imagery of nature and the seasons. I also think Haiku would work well as a
bridge between an experience with nature and the creating of a visual art
work.

If any one is interested, the site is called the Shiki Internet Haiku Salon
at:
http://mikan.cc.matsuyama-u.ac.jp/~shiki/

The site provides some history of Haiku, plus examples of some of the best
works, and even a lesson plan for teaching it to beginners. If any one knows
any other good Haiku sites please let me know. Also, if any one has used
Haiku in the class room, I would be interested in knowing how the kids did
with it.

thanks,
