Thanks for posting that commentary about "American Visions". I believe
it is a correct analysis and I will gladly be the first to admit that I
don't include much about women in the arts in my classroom - because I
never learned much about women and minority contributions to the arts.
And I was so enthralled by a couple of the PBS broadcasts that I wrote a
grant this summer to obtain funds to purchase the entire 7 part
"American Visions" series. I've really enjoyed popping them in the VCR
on lazy Sunday mornings - but I will make an attempt now, when I use
them in my classroom - to remind my students of all the equally
significant works of art by women and minority artists.
