Hi everyone

I thought I would introduce myself to those of you who are participating in
the ecology and art discussion list.

I am interested in issues related to art and ecology for a number of reasons
but primarily because I have been sensitized to such issues through the
environment in which I have lived, and by the research in which I have been
involved. For instance, I have recently been working with Aboriginal
artists in Canada and Australia all of whom have strong relationships with
the land. Their art is deeply connected to ideological connections with the
land. In fact, for several groups, specific places embody their past,
present, and future, their identities, their ancestral dreamtime stories,
myths, and beliefs. Knowing this, I wonder how telecommunication approaches
might be used to teach site specific, deeply personl and cultural views
toward traditional visual cultural production or art?

If any one wants to discuss this further with me, I would welcome the chance.

I also know that having lived on the prairie and the west coast, one's
environment is deeply influences our perceptions of ourselves, others, and
our notions of the world. This makes me wonder how telecommunication
approaches can help to bridge different understandings from one geographical
area to another.

I look forward to discussing these and other ideas with you.
