I don't know if this information will be useful to Hee-Jin Ahn who was
interested in Harvest Festivals, but here in Italy such Festivals are a
regular occurrence, all year round. Just in the outskirts of Rome, in
September/October there are several grape festivals, (In Marino the fountain
gives wine instead of water,...in Zagarolo they pass through the streets and
toss bunches of grapes to the crowds.....In spring, in Nemi there is the
strawberry festival, and in the fall at Rocca di Papa there is the mushroom
festival.....at Anguillara there is a fish festival with a huge fish fry in
the piazza...in Ladispoli there is the Artichoke festival.....and in Monte
Porzio Catone in June the apricot festival....
I just opened the Rome newspaper and this is what's on this weekend in the
area....Segni - chestnut festival; Patrica - chestnuts and acquata (a sweet
wine); Manziana - chestnut festival; Sambuci - polenta, spare ribs and
sausages festival; Rocca di Papa - chestnut and wine festival; Canepina -
chestnut and wine festival. Each one has its own particular traditions,
parades, activities etc.
If you are interested in more details I can find out if the "Ente
Provinciale di Turismo" has an Internet sight. Or write to me for more
