I don't think that an image (in this case the Mona Lisa) is ruined by
overexposure. I have always enjoyed seeing the art that is appropriated by
advertisers and other artists, and the funny ways they use the images. I
look at them with a Dadaist's sense of humor, or the absurd...they're
enjoyable! My students enjoy seeing art they recognize used in incongruous
ways, too. The originals still inspire the same respect as they always
did...but who says you can't have fun with art? I do.
