Dear Margaret

I'm sorry if I was misunderstood - I wholeheartedly agree that we need to
correlate art education in an interdisciplinary way - but I feel very
strongly that we do not do this at the expence of keeping high the
standard of art education itself - we are ART educators - and we do need
to teach tothe whole child - but it is my humble opinion that too many
times we sacrifice good art education for the sake of theme teaching and
loose the integrity of our art programs unless we NATURALLY incorporate
other areas such as science, math, literature, music, etc. into our area
of art education. It can be done very successfully; however, I strongly
feel that we need to do this only when it is appropriate. I am sure it
is your intention to do just that - however, I have seen poor integration
too many times - therefore, I am very cautious when I hear of such
incorporation.
Most respectfully
Lynn
