Bob,

Just for the record, this professor broke art works that had been fired,
glazed and refired. The pieces that were broken were usually graduate
level pieces, made from materials gathered by the student and fired in a
kiln built by the student. The kiln was usually a wood burning kiln that
the student also gathered the wood for or purchased him/herself.

Perhaps this was an unusual case with a ceramics program but it was the
norm for the ceramic program I worked with.
