Great idea, especially for grouping! The first few weeks of school I put various things on the tables and students pick from container as they come in. The sit where it matches (certain line, shape, color, artwork, etc). Then they introduce themselves to each other, have one minute interviews and the like. They come to art from 8 different classes and this way they get to know each other so that we can work together as a community. Your idea is a great way to expand and continue this kind of thing.
