I teach architecture in grade 7, so in October, it's Victorian architecture.
I get the kids interested by showing a clip from the Addams Family movie!
The kids create a drawing of a house in the style of Victorian architecture.
The house is transferred to scratchboard where lots of pattern, decorative
woodwork, details, and landscaping are added.. For those who finish early, I
take their original drawing and copy them onto gray paper with the copy
machine. These are cut out, glued on black paper and "haunted" if they choose. They
make a paper collage with ghosts, goblins, pumpkins, spooky trees, etc.
Last year someone posted some awesome haunted houses on this board. I made
a power point presentation with them. They were terrific. I can located
them if anyone needs them.
