Re:[teacherartexchange] Robin and Drawing on the Right side of the Brain.

Date: Tue Oct 25 2005 - 04:18:02 PDT

I totally agree with you. I was one of those people who thought I
could not draw until I read her book!!!!! I did "ok" in my college
drawing classes (I majored in ceramics and sculpture), but it was during
my first year teaching that I stumbled over Drawing on the Right SIde of
the Brain. WOW. The doors and windows FLUNG open for me, too. I have
used it as the basis of teaching drawing ever since. I can't imagine it
any other way. It truly guides your brain into seeing and transferring
what you see. And no child is too young to understand the concepts if
you put it in their language. I am so proud of what my kids do when
they draw from observation and it is all techniques from this book that
guide them.
