I finally have the opportunity to let you know about published lessons. I had major computer issues. If the information was sent on from another list as requested I apologize for repeating it. If not, I now have the chance to let everyone know about this resource.
The state of Ohio has posted units for the Visual Arts for grades K through High School.
They are Standards based. They are not quickie lessons nor are they meant to be used as a dictated State curriculum. The state recognizes that each teacher and district is unique in funding as well as pedagogy. They are model lessons/units built on Big Ideas complete with pre and post assessments, resources, worksheets, differentiation ideas, checklists and rubrics. They are tried and true and have been field tested by educators across the state. They are meant to be adapted to your situation. For example, I am in the middle of one lesson that I adapted for another grade level. Standards were adjusted. My kids weren't ready for the concept at the level suggested. I also use centers in my room and the resources provided helped me create my technology center.
Search the IMS dropdown menu for your grade level. The lessons are better printed in the pdf form but if you download them in Word you can change items to suit your situation. (The attachment only button does not work.) Keep checking back. This is only the first set.
This November there will be a workshop on implementing this type of lesson at the OAEA conference in Cleveland. There will be handouts on curriculum planning, record keeping and assessment as related to Standards based units.
I apologize that it has taken me so long to post to this site.
I hope they help someone.
