You may want to wedge the clay before using your tile cutter.

Sometimes clays stick to wooden boards because the board isn't absorbing
enough of the moisture out of the clay try adding grog into the clay body
may help with the shrinkage problem. Some handmade tiles have up to 45%
grog added into the clay.
