Advanced Art Still life Rubric

Composition use of Page
4 the whole page has been used with even attention made to background and
foreground. Rich variety through out the image. A correct sense of depth
and accurate use of over lapping and sense of sitting on table
3The page has been used well, there is less variety. Most of the still
life uses depth and overlapping
2Areas of dead space The subject has been completed ( the objects) but the
background seems an after thought. Some issues or problems creating read
1Little or no back ground Looks incomplete and below grade level. No
evidence of planning out composition
0 no evidence

Use of Proportion and Placement
4 Strong accuracy in drawing the shapes of the items and getting their
placements in relation ship to each other. Has enough depth for each
object to sit on the table. Low is closer High is further back. Drew life
sized or at least to fill the page well.
3. Good in all of the above. With some bits that are uneasy in their reality
2. Show some distortion in the shapes and forms or items lack of a sense of
proportion to each other i.e. tallness wideness
1 below grade level, serious gaps in understanding but some objects drawn
0 no evidence

Use of Value Line texture
4. A strong consistent use of shading that use the existing light source (
cast shadows?)and highlights through a range of grays to the darkest 10
value. Line where appropriate of increasing the three d effect Marking
making that creates the illusion of texture
3. good use of shading on most. Some range of gray. Some line making
2. Some shading, but an inconstant approach to the still life, with areas
incomplete or poorly rendered
1. Little effort below grade level

The Advanced challenge piece (color used background, pop up element,
piercing the back ground, adding a fantasy element in the back ground
4. Took the challenge and it succeeded in enhancing the art work
3. Tried one of the ideas and it was able to hide dead space
2. Tried something but left it unsuccessful
1.-0 no evidence
