Does anyone know of kiln repair people in the Long Island, New York area.
My kiln is about 50 years old and broken. My sculpture class is very
disappointed and the district will not buy a new one this year.
Thanks for your help.
LOL...Susan on Long Island to the rescue! Call Haven Art in Port Washington.
Talk to Tom, the owner, who is the nicest man. Haven Art took over A&B
Ceramics that used to be on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola. Mike, the kiln repair
maven and former owner of A&B, now works for Tom, and he can probably be there
tomorrow. He has fixed my old kiln many times. They will even fire pieces for
you, if you need that.
By the way, I highly recommend ordering clay from Haven Art and ceramic
supplies. They are reliable, the clay is always fresh, and it is a pleasure to
deal with them. Also, I recommend their clay workshops for children. Ask for
Veronica as the instructor. She is highly talented and the kids create from
scratch- none of that "let's paint the mold stuff ceramics". I have an adversion
to those ready- made ceramic "art" classes.
Hope this helps.
